Women Are Amazing People

"Women are having to do way too much. They are multitasking, working long hours, and they are still responsible for most of what happens with the family; they are caregivers, best friends, listeners; they are amazing, amazing people."

I love this. It's so true, although I don't know about the amazing. Usually I'm just overwhelmed...

Stephanie -

I think the most overwhelmed are the most amazing because we tend to have so much more we are juggling. Glad you enjoyed the quote.

I don't necessarily think that being overwhelmed makes you amazing. Sometimes it is more beneficial to our family and ourselves if we aren't juggling so much. It can be a tough choice, but we don't have to juggle everything all of the time.

Dear Annon.

Overwhelmed doesn't have to mean you are running from ballet to soccer to violin lessons and a million other things.

Overwhelmed can quite simply be like our family - raising a child with special needs who needs more attention. That in itself is overwhelming for any mother and father, even if they have nothing outside of just working to make their family function.

I also have children with special needs. Just from reading some of your posts, I know you are much busier with other stuff than I am. I have chosen this route because when I am overwhelmed, my family does not function well. Not saying anything is wrong with choosing to write, keep us with kids activities and the like, I have just had to decide to put that on hold to make our environment the best for our kiddos.

I think women can be overwhelmed whether they over schedule or whether they keep their lives simple. Often I feel overwhelmed because there are so many things I'm supposed to do - read my scriptures by myself and with my family, write in my journal, hold family home evening, keep the house clean enough so the health authorities aren't called in, feed my family, do things with them, keep up with church responsibilities, and the list goes on. Then we are told we should do something for ourselves as well. I often feel like I should get up a half hour before I go to bed.

That's why women are so amazing. No matter at what level they choose to multi task, they still have a lot to juggle

Dear Annon.

Like you, I have gone through similar phases in my life where I just have not been able to do one more thing other than raise my kids and keep my marriage healthy and strong. That meant no writing, no college, no extra-curricular activities, other than reading an occasional book.

I agree that each family is different, and is able to do different things at different stages of their journey through life. I have been lucky that our family is finally at a stage now that I can do some extra things for both me and my kids.

Thank you for your comments. And good luck with juggling everything - I know how fun it can be!
