Fruit Snacks and Noses Don't Mix

My three-year-old just came up to me and said, "Mom, I have a fruit snack up my nose."

"What?" I replied.

"I have a fruit snack up my nose."

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yep," he said.

"Are you really, really sure you have a fruit snack up your nose?"

"Yes."

"Well, why is there a fruit snack up your nose?" I asked.

"I wanted to see how high I could make it go," he replied.

Oh my. So I just called my hubby, who is now on his way home so I can take our nose-blocked three-year-old to the doctor to have the offending fruit snack removed.

How's your day going?

Would you like to comment?

Just for the record, after I got home I was able to extract ONE of the fruit snacks. Yes, you read correctly, my son had lodged a fruit snack up BOTH nostrils.

What I really want to know is this. Is shoving fruit snacks up your nose the nasal equivalent of wearing rose-colored glasses?

Hehehe, Poor Rob, my nose tingles just thinking of it. I hope all goes well for him and he learns that noses aren't a good place to store food (or any other kind of object)now ears on the other hand... just kidding It's best to stick with pockets. Seriously, I hope all goes well.

So, here's the update. We got to the doctors & it appears as though there was only one fruit snack. The other side of the nose, where Rob said there was another, was just swelled because he picked at it too much. Although the doctor did say if we started to get any odd colored drainage or foul smells coming from the nose, to let her know & she'd send us to an ENT.

Oh my, oh my.

When one of my sons was four, he started having the worst breath in the world. It was just gross. So we took him to the pediatrician and she sent us straight to the ENT doctor.

Are you ready...it was a green been that had sprouted...we nicknamed him Mr. Bean and he still gets called that today, ten years later.

That is hilarious! It reminds me of an episode of House where a little boy stuck a miniature metal cat up his nose, then a miniature policeman, then a fire truck, and finally a fireman. Obviously the police officer, fire truck and fireman were to sent up the nose to retrieve the cat:o)

Doug - A green bean? Oh yuck! One of my hubby's co-workers said his grandfather (as a child) put a lima bean up his nose. At that time, the docs tried, but couldn't get the bean out. So they left it there to sprout. So when the lima bean sprout cameo out of his nose, they just pulled it out. GROSS!!!!! Oh my. At least you all had a sense of humor about it. :)

Kellie - Can a kid really fit that much stuff up his nose? That's incredible! It should go in the Guinness Book of World Records or something.

That is too funny! Glad you got it out. Yesterday I was cleaning up throw-up so that's adventurous enough for me!

Rachelle - Oh nasty! I've been there and done that WAY more times than I'd like. Hopefully your kiddos will be feeling better very, very soon. (unless of course it was your throw-up, in that case, I'd recommend keeping a bowl with you at all times).

Oh, that's CLASSIC! I can just hear Rob's little voice telling you what he'd done, oh so matter-of-factly! It's amazing how kids think, huh?

Hey Kim - Oh yeah. That little Rob voice in your head - well, that's exactly right. :) Glad you enjoyed it.
